THE SUNFLOWER REVOLUTION

She started at the center of town and worked her way out.  Next to lampposts and fire hydrants, in the sidewalk cracks, and in front of gas stations, police stations, and barber shops, she dug small holes for seeds.  Stacey moved out from the center of town to the streets where people lived and put seeds in the spaces along fences and garages.  She spread seeds as far as one person could.  And then she waited.
Slowly, quietly, the Revolution was growing underground.  Not all of the seeds grew.  Some were eaten by birds, squirrels, and chipmunks when they were first put in the ground.  Some seeds started to grow, only to be cut down by a lawn mower, or pulled out like weeds.  And some seeds didn’t have the right soil, sunshine, or rain.  But some of the seeds grew and grew…and grew.  The Sunflower Revolution was taking root.  Things were looking a little more beautiful and just a little bit wild!
